Denver Botanical Gardens – Free days for Colorado residents are held throughout the year at both Denver Botanic Gardens and Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield thanks to funding from the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).

Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Area

Wildlife bus tours provide an overview of history, wildlife and environmental cleanup at the Arsenal. See eagles, hawks, owls, mule and white-tailed deer, coyotes and prairie dogs. Reservations required.

Dinosaur Ridge

A geologically famous National Natural Landmark, located along the Rocky Mountain Front Range, near Morrison, Colorado, only 15 miles west of downtown Denver. The site features historically famous Jurassic dinosaur bones, such as Stegosaurus and Apatosaurus, discovered in 1877, and Cretaceous dinosaur footprints, attributed to ornithopod and theropod dinosaurs. The site features a visitor’s center and is open to the public year round. It is Free and visitors may follow a mile long trail. A guidebook is available for use on self-guided tours. Guided tours can be arranged through the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge.

More than five billion coins are produced here each year. Free tours of entire production from stamping to counting and bagging. Interesting gift shop. “Money, Trade, and Treasures,” a new exhibit with an imaginative look at historic coins, money and trade.

Bordered by the State Capitol, the City and County Building and the Denver Art Museum, this park is the centerpiece of
Denver greenspace. The park blooms with 25,000 square feet of flower beds each summer.

Vintage trolley operates on historic railways along Platte River Greenway and west through parks. One-hour and half-hour
